SPEECH THERAPY SERVICES

Strokes, brain injuries, and neurodegenerative diseases can greatly impact communication. Aphasia is an impairment of either expression, comprehension, reading, or writing. Your loved one may be experiencing:

  • Difficulty finding the right word

  • Substituting incorrect words (e.g. ‘tree’ for ‘dog’)

  • Difficulty producing a complete sentence

  • Difficulty following verbal instructions

  • Impaired reading comprehension

  • Substituting incorrect letters when writing

Dysarthria is an impairment of motor speech. Speech may sound:

​

  • Slurred

  • Inconsistent in rate

  • Monotone

  • Low in volume

  • Poor intelligibility or articulation

​

Prior to starting therapy, you or your loved one will undergo in depth standardized testing to determine strengths, weaknesses, and where they perform in comparison to their peers.
